Wooden Joinery
EcoWindows turn/tilt windows are commonly used in domestic joinery around Europe and
worldwide. They have been successfully used around the North Island in recent years and have
proven to be ideal for New Zealand conditions.
- Timber: We are able to source a wide range of timbers from New Zealand and from
overseas. The traditional Western Red Cedar and treated Pine are complimented by
European Larch, Mahagonies or other hardwoods, depending on requirements.
- Triple lamination: EcoWindows are manufactured from solid timber with triple
laminated blanks for great stability and strength.
- Mortisse and tennon connection: With all joints being glued and with the use of this very
traditional way of joining frames it insures maximum stability and watertightness.
- 68mm thick timber: All our frames and sashes are 68mm thick, which gives the window
very high thermal breaking values and stability. Compared to traditional joinery it will be
able to comfortably carry big double glazed units.
- 24mm double glazed units: All our glass is fitted with 24 mm IGU's (Insulated Glass
Units) with a thermal spacer. It is an optimized thickness for temperature and noise
insulation. All forms of glass can be used such as Low E, tinted, obscure, laminated, etc.
Hardware:
- General: The hardware used in EcoWindows Joinery is designed and
manufactured in Germany. It is designed to take the weight of double glazing which
is a significant advantage over traditional hardware. It is 3 dimensionally adjustable
and is of the highest quality. It is concealed within the sash and therefore nice on the
eye.
- Multi point locking: The hardware we use in EcoWindows joinery has the huge
advantage of a multi point locking system. It guarantees the tightness of any window
and door so that the quality features of this joinery is never compromised. It also
enhances security by extreme amounts. It will get very hard for anyone to get past
this system. All operated by a single handle!!
- Tilt & Turn: The Tilt & Turn hardware is very sophisticated and has enhanced the
window and door functionality in so many ways. It lets you vent and open not just
your windows but also your doors. That means you could have a bedroom with only
a set of french doors and you get the option of venting the room without the necessity
of additional windows, fan- or sidelights. Everything is achieved by using a single
handle operation. No need for additional bolts or levers that make it very
inconvenient to open and shut your window and door.
- Lift and slide: The lift&slide doors are an amazing concept. Rated up to 300kg it can
effortlessly move a single door of very big dimensions. In comparison to alternative
style timber sliding doors it is air and water tight and also has got thermal breakers in
the right areas to maintain the great heat saving and noise reducing features of this
type of joinery. The limitations on lift and slide doors are quite amazing. We can
manufacture a 4 leaf lift and slide stacker door of roughly 18 m wide and 3 m high
with an opening of approx. 12 m, how cool is that?!!!
- Bi-fold and Tilt&Slide are one of many more options on configuring your joinery
without compromising the quality or thermal efficiency.
- Draft seal: The draft seals used in EcoWindows Joinery is also concealed and highly
efficient to ensure weather tightness. We all know that New Zealand conditions can be
extreme and with 2 “layers” of seals we can make sure that it is withstanding the weather.
- EcoWindows are also ideal as replacements as they can be designed and made to retain the
original look of the building without missing the advantages of modern window/door and
hardware technology (e.g. traditional villas and historic buildings).
- Finish: The Finish of a timber window or door is always critical. For solid surfacing
we use either top quality oil based enamel paints with the the optional eco friendly version
as well. For stain finish we us SIKKENS stain systems. It
is the highest quality stain available for timber finishes in exterior conditions available and
will enhance the beauty of timber joinery to a maximum. Spray coated it gives it a prestine
look that won't be matched!
